And when youre doing telesales, if you work for a small company, no matter how pissed off you get with abuse from customers, theres nothing you can do to get them back (I cant cos Im the only sales person in my depot). I'd rather spend my time ringing people that might have prospects than ringing someone that pissed me off just to annoy them more
God bloody advertising calls, glad where ex-dir now (if that makes any use?) Every night, 'Hello!, would u like double glazing?' My mate used to have this on his machine, was a right laugh 'Hello!, Im not in at the min but leave a msg at the sound of the tone, Unless your selling something, in which case ill trace your call and come to your house with a F*CKIN AXE!' It was a right howl until he got a nasty letter off his phone company for a complaint from a d.glazin company. Christ u cant win!
amy - i still class out bound at bt as cold calling of sorts....the best ones were always ex-directory customers!!
very which is why i'm still here....am gonna do nite classes next year tho hopefully & get my arse outta here & do sumthing i enjoy doing!!!
Mr Webb the reason we call you is because your still a valued customer of bt & we don't want you to miss out on any of our fantastic offers!!!! & anyway we own your telephone number!!!
I'm really glad I left BT when I did. Its one of the worst jobs Ive had. I dont like working for big organisations that dont know you exist unless you're part of the management. It may not be the same at BT as when I was there but I think they treat people like shit.
tis still shit...infact amy it's got worse since you left.....i don't see the point of goin gto work sumwhere tho where i'll work more hours for less money than where i am still doing a job i don't like...i may as well stay at bt til i can get a job doing something i like & now i'm gonna do sumthing bout it......so back to college i go!!
Whatever you decide to do. Try and work for a company thats not massive. Where I work now only has 7 other people in the north east and they treat me like a person. All the big companies Ive worked for treat people badly. It makes a hell of a difference. My job isnt the most enjoyable one Ive had but the fact that I get treat like a person for once, makes up for it (the fact thats it pays better than my previous jobs helps too!)
I've worked in a few private firms, the bigger more profitable they are the more they do not give a shit about their workforce - if you can get into Management there then fine - you should make good cash. There only concerned about profit - that's all their concerned about, full stop. Go for a public job - local government - NHS etc - you will be amazed at the difference in how your treat - the rights you have - working conditions - pension etc...
i only have 8 days at work left, then i'm doing nothing before going back to uni where i'll be doing nothing too! last year of uni tho... gutted.
When one of the big wigs at Northern Rock was talking about the company's profits, he said that they wouldnt make so much money if the staff were paid decent wages! From what Ive seen of Irish companies, they treat their staff well. Ive only been here 3 months though so might get proven wrong
once i've been back to college...i want to apply for jobs working in a prison along side psychologists....
