Promise trance bookings... will promise start to book some of the 'new wave' of trance DJ's soon? all the 'older' djs, such as halliwell, ornadel, signum get booked, but what about, kid vicious, solarstone, pulser, les hemstock, ben lost, gabriel and dresden, mike shiver, ronski speed, goldenscan?? other clubs such as passion, vision, seem to have their fingers on the pulse, and have a very up-to-date bookings policy... or is it simply that they wouldnt work in newcastle? and that the more 'established' djs do work? i for one like the new clubs like vision, with their up-to-date bookings policy. young talent on at the beginning of the night, then newer DJ on, mixes with some BIG djs....MIKE etc... would htis be a good idea for promise? i for one would like to see new DJ's have their chance (ted, me, dave, phil etc......) we have seen james + mark, both young DJ play, and get very good reactions.... thoughts? can u tell im bored ....
Its a good idea for deffo ! The ones ya have named are all quality DJ's / producers /up and coming but will they fill the club compared to the likes of another "big name dj" so to speak ?? Theres plenty of talent around which wouldnt cost an arm and a leg nowadays !
yes, definetly a great idea in my eyes , would luv to c some of the new wave djs spin, theres a lotta talent coming up. not that the bookings r bad atm cos there amazing, just not as fresh.
sounding good, an you'd get peeps in earlier if they knew their mate/some1 they know was playing... an wouldn't the 'new wave' dj's be cheaper cos they're up an coming, not established dj's?
I think we will see more djs in the mould of the ones metioned so far. Jon O'bir, the first of many hopefully, has played recently and with the extened nights at Promise now, they will have a better chance of playing. The way I see it is that on a normal weekly Promise night back in the day there wasn't really a chance for Mark to put on somebody like Solarstone or whatever, who are not really well known because he needed a biggish name to fill Foundation. So now hopefully with the 9-4 nights on there is a better chance of getting lesser known djs on, but still having the big name pulling dj. I hope we get back to having proper trance on at Promise soon, I do miss it a lot. Can't be arsed to go to Manchester all the time.
but i think they will, as they build up a following. maybe not the first time, but thats why they are put on with a big DJ. They they get recognised etc..... putting on young DJs ensures that the scene moves forward, and is there for the future.
wud be nice to see them, saying that theres nothing wrong with the lineups at the moment anyways in my eyes, signum
but joe public isn't running in in the first place is he! look at the excitement that vision is getting for it's line-ups!people would travel from sheffield etc if good new trance talent was on!
To rake in the most punters tho...they need a big name but it's a good idea to have new dj's warming up. I cant see people travelling up from sheffield etc tbh: leeds is a lot closer and there are supposed to be some mint nites there. I thought quality was more of a proper 'nite' tho, cos of the dancers and that - it really made it seem a lot better. Maybe if they coupled new djs with ents like that as well as big names the crowds would get bigger?
wud they fook, newcastle is buggered cos of its geography and its stigma of cheesy beer twat capital of uk... wel up for new talent but has 2be on with a bigger dj..
they travel to manc which is about the same distance? FACT: people will travel for excellent "new" lineups...
but there generally needs to be a top dj on otherwise the club wont get full enough to make the nite viable! newcastle is a long way from anywhere, the train is expensive and there is a reputation of it being full of stag and hen do's, which puts ppl off
