    How come . . . .

    . . . when u accidentntly leave a pan on the hob with nowt in it, it burns to fuck?

    But when theres something actually in it, it doesnt?












    ps I have just done this and my whole house stinks. :oops:

    Thats because the energy transferred from the hob actually has something to act on.... i.e food.

    When there is nothing in the pan, the heat acts on the pan itself, by burning the teflon/nonstick.
