i always come flying out of the tunnel bit to see it up ahead in the lay by... how does that reduce accidents? no one knows it's there and could cause more accidents by slammin on the brakes.

    arrgghhh. drivers can't win.

cyclists should fuck off though. :p

speed cameras are shit and useless fair enough they catch speeding motorists, but its much safer with more traffic police.

They have had more of a positive impact than a nagative one, most places with them are safer, its just the few that arn't that get dramatised by the media in the "speed cameras are our enemies" sorta way.

Nobody likes speed cameras, but at the end of the day, if you don't want to get caught speeding, and you don't want to cause an accident by slamming on the brakes...then don't speed. FACT :p

Don't see why everyone complains about speed cameras. It's like thieves complaining that cctv makes it harder for them to get away with stealing.

you've put your whiter than white point across b4 boyo... so 1) you've never sped? 2) you've never jumped on the brakes when u suddenly noctied a camera? Everyone has and does.

In principal i can't really complain about cameras - they're there to stop accidents. i disagree with the people in charge of them. The first tell us they're only placed at accident black spots - then they introduce mobile ones AND ones on newly built roads b4 they've even opened. a total contradiction. they're placed where they are to make revenue - thats what i disike.

Yes i do speed at times, i have not yet had to stamp on the brakes though. If I get caught speeding though, it would be tough shit, and my fault, and I wouldnt go on and on about it, I would learn my lesson.

I'm not talking about me personally i'm just saying what is always said about them.

Indeed, revenue is a big issue - but its due to people speeding that they get the revenue in the first place.....

If you keep to the speed limit then speed cameras are not a problem

the one pike is talking about is a good example. Facing a downhill bit of a dual carrigdeway, with a 40 limit, hidden out of sight. u can easily creep over 40. the road is walled on either side when you're in the tunnel (i.e. no geriatrics can stumble onto the roads with their buckled zimmer frames and be moshed by a 2.0lt Omega) and you're on the bridge bit over the dene after that - again no one can step onto the road accidentally.

it's there to catch people out and generate revenue. thats sly and not right.

Yeah, I agree it's not right, where they are not there for genuine safety isnt fair - but as I and others have said, if you stick to the speed limit on the road, you won't get caught.
