i'd ring up too to make sure the trains you want are even supposed to be running... last sat rhi checked online, and rang up twice to check the details... got to the station sat morning (7am!) and the train wasn't even on. the guy at the station said it hadn't been cancelled... it was never even meant to be on!
You mean Smog. Shame ur not going earlier bcos u could have used the vouchers out the Evening Chronicle. I think they run out before then tho. Isn't that the Easter weekend?
during the week trains or expensive... weekends you can often get down for £20 if you can be arsed with 900000 hour bus trip, coach is much cheaper. flying is quicker and about the same price (as you usually have to get from gatwick)
Keep checking over next few weeks, you might be able to get it cheaper though probs not if you're coming back on sunday afternoon. The price won't go any higher than that
Re: Train Tickets sounds about right. my ticket last week was over £220, thankfully the company picks up the tab.
Thats the normal price for open tickets, you need to ring GNER and they will let you know if there are cheaper ones available whch there should be, but if you're not going untill April they won;t have been released yet they normally only release cheao tickets about 3-4 weeks b4 you go.
There always pretty pricy to London....! If u aint going to April im sure you'll be able to book the saver return tickets in advance....there always cheaper... Ure best off ringing virgin/national rail or even going to Newcastle train station...they'll put u right! xx
how did you manage that? i cant even get tickets for the weekend 5/6th till tommorow the days of cheap train tickets on the internet are over, best just to ring them up and ask for the cheapest possible fare...
or fly to stansted, my mates live near stratford which can work out about £35 inc national express, depending on which easyjet fares you take...
not true. far less tickets are released for weekends as it is the most popular time to travel outside commuter hours. it is still possible to get the tickets but you have to be very early and lucky. far more are available off peak through the week. the £20 tickets (and the other cheaper ones) are subject to availability so they do sell out and are rarely available at peak travel times. best to get their early, first come first served. Bookings are only open as far as the 23rd of march (that may have now changed, im not at work so dunno) so any tickets bought ahead of that date can only be expensive walk on fares... if you wait for advance purchase reservations to push forward you stand a better chance of a cheaper ticket. give gner telesales a buzz on 08457225225 and they will be able to give ya more info... telesales is far better than booking on the internet anyway @andreapattinson - spot on!!!
GNERCORPORATCOCKSUCKER WHEN WILL THEY BE TAKING BOOKING FOR THE WEEKENDS IN MARCH!!!! CAN YOU ALSO TEXT ME IF OR WHEN THE WEEKEND MARCH TIX GO ON SALE OR IS THAT SERVICE ONLY AVAILABLE TO FLATMATES?
we dont get given info on when they go on sale... it is network rail that witholds them... i would txt ya the dates if i had ya mobile number cheif!
Trust me I know network rail is at fault I have herd GNER'S recorded message well over 50 times stating this. I will PM you my number now.
gner + the other toc's cant release dates until network rail gives clearance... we would release the dates if we could but we are awaiting confimation on engineering works which probs wont even occur. this has caused so much shit within the company and several meetings have taken place to tr and sort this out. all the telesales agents are giving out network rails number so they can take all the shit off the customers, not us! just checked and new dates have opened today... up to and including thurs 28th of april. with the exception of 5,6 12,13 19,20 24-28 of march and 2,3 9,10 16,17 23,24 april. i should be cheif executive by now
