    ATM Card Fraud - Beware!

I got an email at work about it, as someone in Hull noticed after a night out that over a grand went missing from their account a few days later.

A gang operating in the north now but originally from London, attaching some sort of device to ATM machines which collects your details. They then clone your card and use it at various locations drawing small amounts so as not to raise suspicion.
The reason I bring it up is that my sister in York has just rung me to tell me its just happened to her!
£600 drawn out in London and Southampton.

The bank has told her its happened to quite a few people and unless they catch the culprits, theres no guarantee she'll get her money back, her being a student, she's now pretty fucked.

Just thought I'd let peeps know.... not that theres probably alot you can do as the device is obviously not visable, but they target the most popular machines.

Just wondering why I aint seen nothing on the news or anything yet??

its not that obvious as something attached like a camera or something, ive read that it can be a thin plastic film which lays over the keypad which u wouldnt notice and it contains a microchip to record the data.

Or similarily something which they put in the card slot again that u wouldnt see.

fraud is every where in every shape & form now from card details to a/c's....

have card holder protection for every card & then you will not suffer the loss if your frauded against..

also check cash machines before putting your card in...run your finger along the underside of where the card slot is to see ifits smooth or not!

it cant be done on atm machines attached to banks which suck your card in!

Its the ones in bars where u silde the card in, micro-optic film pushed into the slot takes an imprint of the magnetic strip. it can only be used once!

Yeah Ruth's right, it can! (Or at least could, i've seen on the news where it was a bigger bank machine)

They bigger banks are targeting the problem though, for example some machines will just shut down completley if anything is tampered with.

They are probably very hard to notice, so you could be ultra cautious and still get bumped.

    Thieving bastards

I know its nothing new and there has been cases before.

But the fact that so many recent cases means that some gang are operating on a large scale and have decided to target the north.

And yes they can tamper with bank atm machines v easily, they can create a complete mock front and place it over the original, to the normal passer by it looks like a normal machine!
