    Cancer...

    ....sucks.

One of my mams best mates has jus been diagnosed with cancer in the neck. She now has to have an operation which will leave her with a huge hole in her neck, her facial muscles will be damaged so much she wont be able to smile or blink in one eye, so it will have to be stitched closed. Then radiotherapy etc. This is an obsolute bastard. :(

Fancy being eaten from the inside out by this.

My nana also had to have a breast removed due to cancer, which means its in my genes. Gutted. I watched my ex's nana's husband dwindle away with throat cancer - he'd never smoked in his life. How can this still happen??? I donate monthly to cancer research (anyone else who wants to can here http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/donate/giveonline/ ) but I wish I could do more.

    Feeling pretty shitty atm :(

yeah definitley hope so much they're okay cancers the worst thing eva we've got a dead bad history of breast cancer in our family and hav known loadsa people die from it,ma grans gran died from it ma grans mam died from it, ma grans sister died from it and ma mam has had it and also cervical cancer but so far is okay god bless her its the worst thing eva it scares the shit outta me that ma mam will eva get it again and die cos our gram got rid ov it for about 8 years and it came back n she died so its always hangin ova our family that the same will happen to ma mam. i'll probs end up with it when im older seen as its bin thru the family but theres not a chance that im gonna worry bout it now theres no point in worrying over sumthink i hav no influence ova, the doctors hav told me that it cud be because of a faulty gene i hav and that u could hav a test to see whether im gonna get it in later life but i dont see the point theres no point in ruining the rest of ma life from worrying about sumthinks thats gonna happen in the future!!cancers well evil tho wud love em to find a cure for it ma other gram died from it too but she smoked loads and a mate from school died of leukemia and about 5 of ma mams friends hav died of breast cancer but at least ma mammys still alive!!! hope those people get betta cookee cancers the shittest thing eva aint it but all ya can do is think positive n just be there 4 em and i di truely truely believe in the art of positive thinking as daft as it may sound!! it does sumtimes reeli work!! god how long is my post think i'll shut up now lol!! xxx

One of my best mates died of cancer when i was 15, still makes me feel sad now when i think of him even tho it was 8 years ago. He was the fittest lad out of all of us, really good at most sports and never drinked or smoked when the rest of us were just starting to try different things, just goes to show it can happen to anyone no matter how you live your life. Seeing my pal on his death bed was a thing i'll never ever forget, i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.

Just read this thread and im gutted for everyone and I hope the people affected can find comfort from somewhere. My ex had a minor (only because it was diagnosed early) form of cancer early this year. I never understood the technical terms but to put it simply it was in a sensitive place for her. She had to go for tests and would be in pain for days. I was really scared for her and didn't know what to do. It turned out that it had been directly caused by smoking and she was only 21 at the time, so obviously she quit. She had the final operation to remove it and was fine, thank God. She has been fine every time I have seen her so I hope it has gone for good, as I would never wish that kind of ordeal on anyone, because even when the doctor finally said it wasn't critical the thoughts that run through your mind can be awful.
