Cold Blend: Production and Mixing Course Generator have decided to hold more taster sessions to give everyone an idea of what Mark Lowry (Shindig) and Adika Oates (Heavyweight) cover on the course. So we've set up an open invitation taster session on THURSDAY 30th JULY, from 1-3pm at our studios. It's aimed at the young people who would qualify for the course (see http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=26792623667&ref=ts) but it's a bit more flexible than that so if you're near to the right age and from anywhere in Tyne and Wear, get in touch (joe@generator.org.uk or 0191 245 0099 ext.4) to book your space. The restrictions on age and location for this Cold Blend course are due to funding stipulations. Generator are a publically funded organisation and this particular scheme is funded to help tackle some problems faced by 16-24 year olds in Newcastle- particularly when it comes to learning, employment and training. The course teaches a variety of useful skills and is now Arts Award accredited (equivalent of an NVQ level 1)....it's also a lot of fun and a great way of getting groups of musicians to work together. The taster sessions are going to be a bit more flexible though to show everyone what the course is about- there's also a chance Cold Blend will grow in the near future so it's worth checking out. something tells me you won't have any shortage of people wanting a look if you do... I'd certainly be interested in the production and technical tricks sections, as I've never really had a chance to get to grips with them properly.
