A factory worker caught red-handed selling ecstasy in a city nightclub was spared jail yesterday.

Peter Regan agreed to sell two tablets to a stranger who approached him in the Ikon club in Newcastle, the city's crown court heard.

He was arrested after a security officer saw him accepting the cash and handing over the drugs from a batch hidden in his underwear.

Regan, 21, of Dene View, Cowpen, Blyth, admitted supplying ecstasy and possession with intent to supply and also admitted growing two cannabis plants later found at his home.

He sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment suspended for two years and ordered to pay costs by Judge David Wood, who said Regan's character, work record and the one-off nature of his offending meant he was able to avoid jail.

But he told him: "You have a glowing set of references which show you are generally a hard-working, sensible young man with many abilities and a supportive family, friends and partner.

"Why you would jeopardise all that by selling ecstasy in a nightclub, I really don't know."

In the chron (PAPER EDITON) it says young Reagan bought 16 tablets after scouring the Bigg Market for dealers. They were for his own use & he expected them to last a month. But once in Ikon he sold 2 for £15 to a stranger & was spotted.

About 3 or 4 years ago one of my pals got caught going into legends with 15 pills in his pocket after necking 5 of them earlier in the night, they rang the bizzies he got arrested they searched his home and found 3oz of tack. He was so battered when they were interviewing him he told them he was a drug addict and takes just about everything and they were all for his own use. He ended up getting a caution.

Only in the Bigg Market would you get a big enough walloper to spare with £15 for a hit.

The kid was selling 2 of his monthly supply (16) that he had bought in the bigg mkt, to some randoms in Ikon for £15 4 2 littleuns.

To be fair if someone offered to buy 2 fellas for £15 off me i'd probably sell them, thats nearly trebling what i'd pay for them. The kid must be a mug.

Got caught with a bottle of poppers in ikon on a SS night, two bouncers dragged me to the toilets, one slapped a couple of times round the back of the head, and the other smacked me in the kidneys for good measure. They didn't kick me out though

The Ikon door is run by Phoenix & has been for over 2years. The previous 'firm' could no longer run the door & certain doormen were not allowed to re-employed by Phonenix. These changes were SUGGESTED by Northumbria police as the best way for Ikon to have Northumbria polices backing for all future renewals of licences.

Is Phoenix Eddie's firm? I know he runs a good few doors all over the northeast and saw his name outside Ikon, was a while ago tho so not sure whether he would still be there... he's VERY dodgy apparently and caused a bit of trouble in Boro and Redcar. Came into my local shit club with Denny and demanded free drinks... never seen the manager of Kudos look scared in his life until then...
