Metro paper today There is a brief article about Kerry in the Metro paper today, on page 17. They have misquoted her a bit, but it's the first article we've seen that's just about her! Well chuffed.
Kerry James at Promise They've just had the paintbrushes out at Foundation over the past few weeks, but now Promise is ready to re-open with a subtly different look and sound and the addition of new resident Kerry James alongside guests Corvin Dalek and John Kelly. Born in Liverpool and brought up in Cumbria, James has worked on the Newcastle clubbing scene since her early residencies at Rockies Bar in 1997 and Rockshots in 1998. She has also been a regular on the dancefloor at Promise. "It's where I go clubbing, anyway. I never expected a residency, it just sort of came along. It's so nice to be asked, expecially at a time like this, when club culture up and down the coutry is dying a little bit and other clubs are suffering." As Promise goes from strength to strength, James's trademark energetic style will be a great asset to the club. "I love what I play. I'm passionate about music and always have been. The music that I play tends to stay on the hard side of dance. I do vary it and, although Promise is a trance night, I'll still slip a bit of hard and funky house in." Having run her own nights - Vibe at Foundation and Pull at Rockshots - in the past, Kelly (?) certainly knows her stuff. But did she help out with the decorating? "No! They've put a new DJ box in, re-done the seats, re-vamped upstairs a bit. Everyone's excited about the opening night - it's going to be a big one."
