Still managed to get 40 odd thousand there tho. Im proud of our supporters - best in the region by far. As for the team - we had enuff chances to win ten games but we just didn't take them. It was so fucking frustrating! Then Bobby goes and takes Robert and Solano off! Admittedly, I'll never be Robert's biggest fan but he was the only one who cud have won us the game 2nite. It was a crazy decision to sub him. And why do the fans insist on chanting 'Shearer, Shearer' throughout the game instead of supporting the players on the field! The 40 thousand plus fans deserved a whole lot more than what they got 2nite!
Re: West Brom West Brom NEVER let the 1st Division down in cup comps. Remember this: West Bromwich Albion sprung a major FA Cup shock with a deserved victory against Sunderland at The Stadium of Light. Gary Megson's First Division promotion chasers had more than enough firepower and resilience to seal a fourth round place, with victory over wretched Premiership opponents. Kevin Phillips - a shining light amid Sunderland's gloom - gave Peter Reid's men an early lead with a stunning overhead kick. But Albion responded in style to equalise from the spot courtesy of Neil Clement, and went on to seal a memorable triumph with Andy Johnson's second half header. The supporters were not happy and we need to get together, stand up and work hard and turn this season around through league points because that's the only way forward Sunderland manager Peter Reid Albion could have won by an even greater margin after striking the woodwork twice in the first half, and Sunderland can have no complaints about the result. Reid, in contrast, will reflect on growing pressure as the Sunderland crowd reacted with a chorus of derision at the final whistle. Sunderland may question the legality of Albion's first-half penalty, but there was no doubt Megson's side deserved to be at least level at the interval. Phillips produced a moment of inspiration to give Sunderland the advantage after 15 minutes. Albion looked in no danger when Phillips collected George McCartney's pass in the penalty area, but he delivered a brilliant bicycle kick which flew into the top corner with Russell Hoult stranded. Phillips celebrates The First Division men, far from being discouraged, simply stepped up the pace and were level five minutes later. Stan Varga's challenge on Jason Roberts appeared to be obstruction at worst, but referee Mike Dean pointed to the spot and Clement fired powerfully past Thomas Sorensen. Albion more than held their own, and struck the woodwork twice as Sunderland's only ploy appeared to be the hopeful long ball aimed in the direction of Phillips and Niall Quinn. Adam Chambers headed against the post from Johnson's cross after 31 minutes, then Derek McInnes struck the bar from 25 yards with Sorensen helpless. I think we did deserve it on the amount of chances that we had West Brom manager Gary Megson Albion's excellent work was finally rewarded on the hour when they deservedly took the lead. The dangerous Roberts was again instrumental, crossing from the left for Johnson to arrive late and unmarked to head firmly past Sorensen from eight yards. Sunderland boss Reid made an immediate change, sending on former Albion winger Kevin Kilbane for Julio Arca. The Stadium of Light crowd was growing increasingly impatient with Sunderland's inability to trouble the Albion rearguard. And Albion, with the powerful Roberts an ever-present threat up front, had the potential to snatch another on the break to punish the lacklustre Black Cats. In the end he was not required, as Albion's defence held out with almost embarrassing ease. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sunderland: Sorensen, Haas (Kyle 74), Williams (Craddock 51), Varga, McCartney, McAteer, McCann, Thirlwell, Arca (Kilbane 62), Quinn, Phillips.
