either way, dogs did and will kill animals now and pre-domestication, 'harnessing' their power to kill pests for a specific reason is nothing bad, if there was a law against man using nature for its own benefit then you especially would be out of a job

In that case we would have to say that all dogs would kill foxes/other animals, rather than just bloodhounds (in this example), which they don't. Bloodhounds were bred for specific work, as were other dogs (for example a sheepdog that killed sheep wouldn't be much use). So using the argument that they would kill them in the wild is a little spurious. They have had specific character traits enhanced in them over generations.

I'm not saying whether using dogs is or isn't wrong, just that saying they would do it anyway is perhaps a little simplistic.

Im totally against it. As its been said, there are far more humane ways of getting rid of pests. Its fucking awful. I really hope it, aswell as the other things Heather has mentioned and more, get banned full stop. And made sure they arent done on the sly. :evil:

I read in the paper the other day how in Africa or sumthing, an elephant will be shot (not enuf to kill them, just slow them down) then its legs hacked nearly off. Then its trunk cut off and its tusks removed. ALL while still alive. And for a few quid on ivory. :angry: And this happens in a place that is meant to be protected. But isnt because the guard's are too frightened to go that far out in the sticks. FFS! :evil:
